Ebike 48V to USB-C PD Adapter
Design Objective
The objective was to engineer a high-voltage interface module to tap into a 48V nominal LEV battery architecture, providing regulated USB-C Power Delivery (PD) for auxiliary field electronics.
System Architecture
The converter utilizes a high-efficiency buck regulation stage rated for 48V+ input transients. A dedicated USB-C PD controller IC handles the negotiation protocol, allowing the system to communicate with connected devices and deliver power according to their specific voltage and amperage profiles (5V-20V range).
Operational Result
The module successfully validates the bike's battery pack as a high-capacity mobile energy storage node. The system delivers full-speed charging for mobile devices during transit, facilitating the use of high-drain auxiliary electronics (GPS/telemetry) without compromising the primary propulsion battery's state-of-charge significantly.
